To start, I’ll define what I mean by a reset: everyone remakes their accounts, starts out with 0 bits and 0 pets, losing everything they have earned since SBP2 began. Pros: Cons: The first reset happened when sbp2 went live. It was not a choice though- sbp1 had crashed and everyone’s information was lost, so there was no other way. Users were likely saddened by this, but many things were recoded, making the economy and entire pet system extremely different. It would have been hard to convert pre-existing pets from sbp1 to sbp2 even if there was the option (because of a new personality system and variations being introduced). The economy in sbp2 was much different, making it an actual challenge to get bits. If the bits transferred over, some sbp1 players likely would never have to lift a finger to purchase anything expensive with just their bank interest, while new players had to work their butt off to get anything. I made a long narrative about the sbp3 reset, but I’ll just summarize and get to the point. Things I didn’t like about it: On a final note, I think it’s important to note that I’m FILTHY rich on SBP right now. I have a lot of soulless pets, a freakload of rare/retired/limited items, one of EVERY SINGLE ITEM ON THE SITE (sans maybe 3 things) and millions of bits- I think 50 million at least? I forget. I’m not saying this to brag, but to show that I would be losing a LOT from a reset… But I still want it to happen. I worked hard for what I have, but it would be so unfair for me to have this if the economy was extremely different. Also, if anything happens with the whole “crucial pet personality development during babyhood” thing, I’d be very disappointed to have missed out on it because all of my pets are already adults (and I don’t need any more pets 8D;). If SBP is to truly be rid of past inconsistencies and to be awakened anew for its final (and hopefully best) revamp, I think a reset would be necessary. This is especially true if the economy, pet personality influences, schools for baby pets, ect are going to be introduced. What do you think about this?

Ohhh, nooo! DD: I finally reached 1 million bits before the site went down! I’ve been aiming for that since I joined in 2007. I’m also very attached to all of my pets. I couldn’t bear to lose them. I agree that it would be refreshing to completely start over, but I couldn’t do it, personally. I’ve been anxious to see my pets again. I mean, if we did end up doing it, I could probably handle it eventually. But for me it would be so much work just washed down the drain. My entire plushie collection, all of my pets (including at least one soulless), over 1 million bits…I worked hard to get those and I don’t want to lose them. :c But that’s just me. I can get very attached to things, so I don’t know if anyone else feels the way I do. |

ajs;ldkfjkslj hi chesu. o uo i can’t really say much, since i joined (as rocket) not too long before sbp pretty much flatlined, but before that i had an account for much longer, i just forgot all of the login information hahaha. i know people will be really sad about losing pets, but half the fun will be in remaking all the pets and all the characters. even if we don’t got through a reset and we’re allowed to keep our pets, i’d probably only save my money & items or something and remake all my pets–but i s’pose that might just be me. :U i think a revamp would be a really nice way to start sbp4. everyone would be at the same playing level, so to speak, and it would be a new experience for everyone. we can all be newbs together haha. c: |

I think whether a reset makes sense depends mainly on how different SBP4 will be from SBP3. I’d personally die from a reset, since the pets and everything I owned have been around for so long it feels I’d lose such a lot and rebuilding everything would just not be the same. Sure, starting over again can be a nice challenge too, but I really love my old pets and losing them would leave a hole in my heart. Possibly, there could be a compromise between these two options, for example by only transferring the pets. I wouldn’t mind an economic reset, despite being somewhat attached to some event prizes, the Fool egg I still had in storage and some rare minions but they don’t have the same emotional value as my pets. Maybe there’s also a way to transfer the pets themselves and their birthdate and so on, but reset them to baby stage so they can develop like the normal SBP4 pet. Maybe each old user could have their old pets put in a kind of storage and get them back one at a time when he’s able to care for them properly. Since it’d only be optional to take back the pets, you could still have the fresh start you wanted and I’m also all for them being reset to their original variation. I honestly don’t know if I’ll be able to get back into SBP if I lose my old pets since I’ve had most of them since SBP2 and they’re what makes SBP so special for me. So I’d vote for a reset with the option to keep pets (names, birthdate, possibly ID, basic personality unless that system is changed, same variation as the original pet) at the basic stage (as babies, only ordinary variations, level 1) so that people can keep their memories while there’s no unfair economic advantages like having milions of bits. There’ll be a little bit of inequality due to some people owning some rare pets like the Fool but I don’t think that’ll really be a problem. I think a full reset might keep a lot of older users from getting back into SBP and that’d be quite the loss for the site. |

Hi rocket! X3 ^What Koda said, though I still might be upset about losing the 1 mil I finally got. But really I would miss my pets the most, and I would feel the same way Koda said if we lost them. I think I could manage losing my bits and plushie collection if I could still keep my pets, and I like Koda’s idea of having them transferred like that. It would be interesting to see my very first Starbit as a baby again. |

Well, I personally wouldn’t like a reset, Concidering I would lose all my beloved pets, but if we have to have it, I’ll go ahead. Even if I loss all my hard work and the time I put into it, I will cope. I think I got used to the idea of never seing my pets again when Starbits went down anyway, so I’ll just be glad if the site becomes alive again. Oh, How I miss SBP. |

I think I got used to the idea of never seing my pets again when Starbits went down anyway, so I’ll just be glad if the site becomes alive again. Oh, How I miss SBP. ^This. I’ve lost my starbits twice in both resets SBP had (I consider the loss of specific ID numbers, and the fact that I thought I had to disown them all in the V3 revamp a loss), so I’ve already had my heart pulverized twice. Not to say that anyone else deserves to have that happen twice- or three times for sbp1 users. I’ve just come to expect it, really, so I’ve made my sbp chars profiles elsewhere, where I’m certain they’ll be safe from deletion. There’s a lot more opposition than I expected; I hope whatever chizu does, it’s something that will make people happy, but also be the best for sbp4 as a whole. I like Koda’s idea as well, especially if they could be reset as babies and the part about them being returned to us over a time, rather than all at once. Keeping their original birthdays would also be really nice (though I doubt IDs would be kept in a reset).

If pets are lost I will probably attempt to remake them all because of how attached I am to them as characters. I won’t be overly upset if everything needs to be reset. |

I don’t see why a pet limit would be implemented at this point. In sbp3, I think the idea was that there was supposed to be an “imaginary” pet limit based on how hard it would be to take care of X amount of pets- but not a literal restriction that prevented you from making more. You never know though, I suppose. ono /just felt the need to blurb that out I probably wouldn’t be remaking any of my pets though. Unless someone else would miss me having them, which I doubt. xD … Well! Maybe Stabby Legs since some people randomly were in love with her, hehe. xD |

Oh I know I wasn’t expecting it personally I was just throwing that out there as something that would bother me xD Well to be honest one of the reasons I don’t want to be making new pets is because I really don’t want any more characters, I don’t give the ones I have enough attention as it is. That and I’ve still been expanding on them in relation to SBP up to this day for…whatever…reason… Or at least primarily that little story about Tavern :T |

I’d really have to say no on this one. I’ve been waiting months just to see, play with, and RP as my pets again, and well… That’s just a lot of hours, bits, and time wasted to just have it all disappear permanently AGAIN. Not just to lose the characters I’d made, but I had Verdepines, an Essence Mask, winter pets, 5 soulless, Solas… you name it. I’d cry buckets to lose all that work, to be honest ;A; |

I have everyone’s info saved so there will probably be a similar account transfer system to SBP v.3 where you could pick and choose which pets and items to transfer over to the new site. In fact it will probably be fairly similar to the method that kodachan has suggested where you can have the options to keep the individual stats (birthday, some personality stats, fav. color, etc.) but could restart them from babies if you wanted to to take advantage of SBP v.4 features. Fun idea, perhaps the account transfer method could be called the “time machine” and you could keep returning to nab stuff as features were being added back? Dunno…Just a way to tie in something technical into the story. It would also be nice to be able to transfer your stuff over in bits and pieces because one doesn’t want to make mistakes. I totally understand that people don’t want a reset. Since it has been so long since the last reset people have built up a ton of rare things and there shouldn’t be a punishment for being dedicated to SBP, you guys should be rewarded. :> EDIT: Also, are pet ID’s important to you all? The’ve been mentioned a couple of times and I was wondering what they signify to you guys. Pooka is right, I usually wouldn’t go through the trouble of preserving ID’s during a reset, but is there a reason people may want to keep them? |

It’s great to hear that old discrepancies regarding resetting are being regarded carefully. Koda had a great idea, so that’s awesome that it’ll be something like that. : D However, what if we choose to have a soulless pet start as a baby? Will they grow up to be a soulless again, or would that pose an issue? YES to the time machine- It took me a ridiculously long time to check each box to transfer all of my items in th v3 reset (I gave in and left a large chunk unchecked because I didn’t want to miss… low IDs xD;). If that could be held off until later without losing everything, that would be very nice. Getting a trickle of your previous belongings over time would also be something nice to look forward to, week-by-week. : D As for IDs: low IDs allude to someone being a senior member, which is kinda… Better, I guess? It just makes you look cool. xD I miss my original ID though, #17, which I lost in the v3 reset. :< It's my lucky two-digit number. On sbp3, I drew various users as pokemon according to their ID, which is something I personally always take into account 'cause I'm danged silly. Same goes for pets. A lot of my pets were messed up too- I had a pet named Hell Hound who was #666, which is pretty self-explanatory. XD I can't really remember any others though, other than Krajin being #15, which was special just because it was low. I think I had 605 (the route I live on), 3333, 5000, and 999 as well, and similar ones. On v3, I had quite a few special IDs. I had 114 (my lucky number), 399 (BIDOOF), 404 (error), 411 (114 backwards), and 6666- Hellion! Geeze, I worked hard to get that 6666- I had been stalking it for weeks, and when it got to 6661, I had four friends make pets just so I made sure I wouldn't miss it. XD |

I actually sort of skimmed everything here, but personally, I am all for a reset and really would like one to happen. I also feel like I am probably the only person who really wants one to happen also. Oh well. I actually do not like the idea of getting to transfer over pets, and items and such at all for various reasons. |
